Plan ahead

Hi everyone:

I know most family members at least read the xanga entries even if they don't post very frequently. We have set the location of my wedding (362 days away, but who is counting). We have reserved a block of rooms at the OU Inn (link here: http://www.ouinn.com/). This is where the rehearsal dinner will be and it is very close to the ceremony and reception sites.

Rooms are $99 a night, if you say you are with the Nowak-Meyer wedding. It would really help me if you could make your reservation soon. I want to make sure I have reserved enough rooms for everyone since everyone is from out of town.

The OU Inn is a full service hotel with a restaurant, pool, and fitness center on the premises. There is also a park nearby.

Thanks all! We are in the countdown now :)

Check us out! My favorite is the one where I am kissing Buddy on the cheek. His expression is so "him!"

A dress

My mom and dad were in town this past weekend. We had a great time!

On Saturday my mom and I went wedding dress shopping while Buddy and my dad did man-things, like put together our grill and go to the Indians game. They were successful in putting together our grill and the Indians won, so it was a good day for them.

It was even better day for my mom and I! We went to our first appointment of the day and before we even walked in, my mom saw a dress in the window that she loved. After I had tried it on, we both loved it so much. Then we looked at the price tag - $3600. Ouch. So, I knew we couldn't buy it on site and as we left the store we both felt kind of depressed that we couldn't afford THE dress.

At our next appointment, neither of us thought we would find anything that compared to the first dress. I tried on several, and when I tried on the fourth dress it looked wonderful, fit beautifully and we both loved it even more than the first dress. I was scared to look at the price. It was $2400. Well, we said, that's better. But then the clerk came over and said, that the dress had been discontinued, but if the sample fit me, I could buy the sample I was trying on. She also said that there would be a discount on the price - more than $1,000 dollars off the price! We bought it on the spot, so, I have a dress to wear on June 20, 2009.

On Sunday Buddy's parents came over for a BBQ and to meet mom and dad. I can't believe I'm writing this, but I think they liked each other

It was a great weekend all around.

Look how my garden grows...

And I haven't lifted a finger yet! Apparently the dead, empty beds out there have a few surprises in store for me including not just daffodils, buy hyacinth, tulips and some other plants that don't quite look like weeds. So, maybe I don't have so much work ahead of me after all.

The melting snow has also turned up some of those little plastic sticks that say what is planted and they indicate some hydrangea and roses. This is a lot of fun. It kind of reminds me of a giant advent calendar - a new surprise every day!

I have decided to give leaf lettuce a shot in the shadier areas (thanks Aunt Lynn) and use the slightly sunnier spots to coax out some peppers and tomatoes. For my first year out, I think that will be enough of a challenge

An update with no wedding stuff

Hahahaha! Yeah right, like there is anything else going on in my life besides planning my wedding (except for thinking about Ben's upcoming wedding, of course).

But honestly, there isn't much new. I am happily planning my garden for this year but having some trouble because of the amount of shade in our backyard. What is good for the efficiency of cooling our house, may not be good for my tomatoes. Any suggestions as to what might grow well in partial shade would be appreciated. My indoor Aerogarden that I have filled with herbs is going gangbusters. We have fresh basil (2 varieties), dill, cilantro, parsley, mint and chives. It's really save me quite a bit of money at the grocery store and I waste a lot less because I only harvest what I need.

Work is busy, but not as busy as it has been in years past. We are starting to see the slow down in sales of commercial real estate. Typically commercial slow downs are behind residential slow downs by about a year. Thankfully we are still seeing activity in the leasing market, but even that is not as robust as one year ago.

Buddy starts a new courtroom on Monday. He is hoping to get more jury trial experience with the new judges (one is a former Cleveland Brown). We are also gearing up for this summer when we will campaipgn for his boss and several judges that he supports. Parades every weekend :)
